{Outfit}: Can you wear flats to a wedding? Sure can!

Wedding

  Saturday June 22, 2013

Today I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful wedding of one of my brother's friends (actually a friend of the entire family since we were very young). The wedding ceremony took place in the El Carmen church and it was so beautiful. I especially enjoyed all of the flower decorations and fireworks!

The wedding reception was also absolutely beautiful. All the decorations had a rustic romantic vibe which made the entire place feel very cozy and welcoming. Picture floating lanterns and glowing candles... SO pretty! It is very much what I would picture my wedding reception to be like one day.

I had already planned what I wanted to wear several months ago, but since I can only wear flats right now due to my foot injury I had to reconsider what to wear. In the end I went with this beautiful red gown I have had for many many years. I don't usually see people wear flats to weddings, but I think wearing a long gown that covers your feet is a great way to do it!

How would you wear flats to a wedding?

  4. you look so beautiful, and with a long gown, you'd never know you were wearing flats! The last wedding I was at, the bridesmaids (in short dresses) were all wearing plastic flip flops. even during the ceremony!

  5. ohmygoodness you look STUNNING in this dress!! You seriously look like a celebrity, or royalty. Weddings are so awesome that way- not only do you get to see a friend get married, but it also gives you a chance to get totally dolled up. You look gorgeous!!!

  9. I just got back from an Indian wedding over the weekend and although I didn't wear flats, its still perfectly all right to wear them. I watched a wedding show on TV where the bride wore flats so yeah perfectly accpetable. The dress is gorgeous Marie and you and your mum are ridiculously alike.

  11. Red looks so good on you. Wearing a long dress is a good choice when wearing flats because you can't tell the type of shoe you have on.

  14. I love the dress. :) And you are right, wearing a long gown on weddings and match it with flats is a great. It's one of my secrets. So difficult to stay on heels for like 4hours right??

  22. Thanks Jody!!! It was really hard to find a dress that would hide my flat shoes but that also would be short enough to not drag on the floor. I was very pleased with this red dress, and I'm so happy to hear you liked it too!

  23. Thank you Mica!!! That is so smart of you to wear flats to your own wedding, that way you don't have to worry about it and can just concentrate on having fun!

  24. Thanks Rosely!! That's what I thought too! But at the same time the dress needs to be short enough so that it doesn't drag on the floor, so it was indeed kind of tricky to find the right dress for the occassion. I'm so glad you liked it!

  26. Thank you Heidi!! Oh yeah, I didn't think about that but I guess you are right that weddings like outdoors or somewhere scenic would definitely need flat shoes. Oh wao, your anniversary is this Sunday?!?! CONGRATS!!!! Are you both planning to celebrate?
