{Outfit}: How I wear the Crop Top trend

Tuesday Febuary 18, 2014

Hi guys! I don't know about you, but I'm really digging the crop top trend of 2013 and 2014! At first I was kind of skeptical about it because who want's to show their belly button after their teen years right?! But then I realized that crop tops look amazing (and more age appropriate!) when paired with high waisted skirts or pants! And now I kind of love this trend :)

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Yo no sé ustedes, pero a mí me esta gustando mucho la tendencia del "crop top" (blusita corta) del 2013 y 2014! Al principio no estaba muy emocionada de esta tendencia, porque realmente quién quiere mostrar su ombligo después de sus años de adolescencia cierto?! Pero luego me di cuenta de que los "crop tops" se ven increíbles (y más apropiado para mí edad) combinados con faldas y pantalones que llegan hasta la cintura! Y ahora me encanta esta tendencia :)

{Top/Camisa: Charlotte Russe (USA)  ;  Liz Claiborne Skirt/Falda: Conway (Panama)  ;  BCBGirls shoes/Zapatos: BMB (Panama)  ;  Bag/Cartera: Present from my boyfriend's aunt  ;  Earrings and Rings/Aretes y Anillos: Forever21.com (Similar ring here!)}

Even though I'm showing some skin in my waist, I still felt pretty classy in this outfit... especially with this polished updo! This is the first time I try this hairstyle and I really like it for going to work. Let me know if any of you would be interested in a tutorial ;)

What do you think of the crop top trend? How would you wear it?

¿Qué piensan ustedes de la tendencia del "crop top"? ¿Cómo lo usarían ustedes?

  1. Cute outfit! Love the print on the skirt. I haven't tried the crop trend yet. For one, I am a little busty so it doesn't look right sometimes. haha
The back of the shirt looks pretty too! :)

  2. Thanks Heidi!!! Oh yeah, I could imagine that being busty would make the crop top trend a little more complicated. Perhaps a boxier/loose crop top would work better?? Thanks for your kind words!

  3. I agree with the crop top + high-waisted bottoms concept! It really does look so good. And for cropped sweaters, they look absolutely grand with dresses and skirts without looking bulky, so I'm into them that way, too! It's almost like you can make new dresses for yourself, haha!

I love this new updo of yours! It's so sophisticated and clean and I love how it looks with your super cute outfit. The print on your heels is spectacular!!

Have an awesome week, Marie!! <3

  4. This looks great on you! As always, I love your use of color, your outfits are so cheerful. While I think you pulled off the crop top quite well, the trend still isn't for me - especially since having a baby :)

  5. I love that top! The chains make it kinda urban, but you're right, it works as a polished piece too. I wish I could pull off the crop top thing but I think you need to be fit for that. The holidays got the best of me... ;) You look AMAZING! (As always.) I'm convinced you can wear anything.

  7. That floral skirt is beautiful on you! :)

Crop tops do look great with high waisted skirts too, it would be the only way I'd wear the trend :) Not that I can at the moment with the baby belly, haha! :)

  8. I think this outfit looks really nice and that you made the crop top look super classy, however I would not wear it to work.

  10. Thank you Annabelle, I appreciate all your sweet compliments!! Yeah, I can totally see that the crop top trend isn't for everyone. I do like the trend but only worn in certain ways :)

  11. Hahahahahahaha oh Ashley, I definitely can't wear anything but thank you so much for saying that. I can relate with the holiday weight, in Panama its Summer RIGHT AFTER the holidays (geez, bad timing or what?!?!). So everyone goes all crazy at the gym trying to get fit after the holidays to go to the beach and look good in their bathing suits. Me? I embrace the extra pounds ;)

  15. If Summer came after the holidays here, I'd either not enjoy holidays and food anymore, or move, lol!
